Gut Barrier Panel (Leaky Gut Test)

Your gut lining acts like a security gate. Its job is to let nutrients in… and keep toxins, bacteria, and food particles out.

When that barrier becomes irritated or weakened, things can slip through that shouldn’t. This is often called “leaky gut.” But it’s not just leaky or not leaky — it happens on a spectrum, from mild irritation to significant inflammation.

The Gut Barrier Panel helps us see where you fall on that spectrum.

The Basic Package vs The Premium Package

Both packages include your test results, but the premium package includes a written summary by Dr. Don, explaining your results.

What This Test Looks At

Instead of guessing, this panel measures several important “gatekeeper” markers:

Candida

Candida is a type of yeast that naturally lives in your gut.
If it overgrows, it can disrupt the balance of bacteria (dysbiosis) and irritate the gut lining — often acting as an early trigger for leaky gut.

Zonulin

Zonulin helps control the “tight junctions” in your intestinal lining — think of them like tiny doorways between cells.

High zonulin levels suggest those doorways are opening too much, increasing intestinal permeability (aka leaky gut).

Occludin

Occludin is another protein that helps hold your gut lining together.

If occludin antibodies are elevated, it may indicate the structural integrity of the gut barrier is breaking down.

Lipopolysaccharides (LPS)

LPS are pieces of certain bacteria.

If your immune system is reacting strongly to LPS, it can mean bacterial toxins are slipping through the gut barrier and triggering inflammation.

What Makes This Test Unique

We don’t just measure whether these markers are present — we also measure how your immune system is reacting to them.

This gives us a clearer picture of:

  • Early irritation

  • Active inflammation

  • More advanced barrier breakdown

It helps us personalize your treatment plan instead of guessing.

Common Signs of Gut Dysfunction

If your gut barrier is struggling, you might experience:

  • Bloating

  • Stomach pain

  • Diarrhea or constipation

  • Heartburn

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Unintentional weight changes

  • Strong sugar cravings

  • Food sensitivities

  • Skin issues (rashes, eczema, acne)

  • Fatigue

Why This Matters

When the gut barrier is compromised, it doesn’t just affect digestion — it can impact your immune system, energy levels, skin, hormones, and even brain function.

The goal of this test is simple:
Identify the root cause → Calm inflammation → Restore the gut lining → Help your whole body function better.
